Terms of Service
Last updated: 2 August 2026
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Partial Platforms ("Partial", "we", "us"), covering your use of the Partial mobile application and related services (the "Service").
By creating an account you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What Partial is
Partial is a dating application for adults. You create a profile, share opinions and vote on others', see other members, match with people, and exchange messages. Members use Partial to arrange to meet each other in person.
Partial is not an introduction agency, a matchmaking service, or a background-checking service. We do not verify the identity, age, background, criminal history or marital status of members. See section 7.
2. Eligibility
You may use Partial only if:
- You are 18 years of age or older. Partial is an adults-only service. There is no version of the Service available to minors, and we remove accounts belonging to anyone under 18 as soon as we become aware of them.
- You are located in Canada. The Service is currently offered only in Canada. We do not offer it elsewhere, and we may block access from outside Canada.
- You have not previously been removed from the Service, and you are not barred from using it under applicable law.
We collect your date of birth at sign-up and refuse accounts that do not meet the age requirement. Providing a false date of birth is a breach of these Terms.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your credentials secure.
- One account per person. Do not create an account on someone else's behalf, or share yours.
- The information on your profile must be true, and the photos must be of you.
- Tell us promptly at admin@partial.chat if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
4. Community rules — zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive members. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the member responsible is suspended or permanently removed from the Service. We are not obliged to warn you first.
You must not post, send, upload or share:
- Anything involving a minor. Sexual or suggestive content involving anyone under 18, content that sexualises minors, or any attempt to contact or solicit a minor. We report this to the appropriate authorities.
- Nudity or sexually explicit content, in profile photos, messages or opinions.
- Harassment, bullying, intimidation or threats, including repeated unwanted contact after someone has stopped replying or has blocked you.
- Hate speech — content attacking or demeaning people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, or age.
- Violence, threats of violence, or content that glorifies it.
- Content promoting self-harm or suicide.
- Impersonation — pretending to be another person, or using photos that are not of you.
- Scams, fraud or solicitation — requests for money, cryptocurrency, gift cards or investments; phishing; advertising; commercial sexual services; or directing members off-platform for any of these purposes.
- Personal information about other people, including sharing private messages, photos or contact details of others without their consent.
- Illegal content, or content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy.
You must also not: use bots or automated means to access the Service; scrape or harvest member data; attempt to circumvent a block, suspension or removal (including by creating a new account); or interfere with the security or operation of the Service.
5. Reporting and blocking
Every profile, chat, photo and opinion in Partial has a Report option in its menu. Reports go to our moderation team. We do not tell the person you reported that you reported them.
You can block any member from their profile or from a chat. Blocking is immediate and works in both directions: you and that member disappear from each other's feeds, matches and conversations, and neither of you can contact the other. The member is not told that you blocked them. You can see and undo your blocks under Settings → Blocked users.
You can also contact us directly at admin@partial.chat about anything you have seen on the Service.
6. Moderation, screening and enforcement
We review every report, and we aim to act within 24 hours of receiving one.
- We use automated screening on content submitted to the Service. Photos are checked by an automated image classifier before they appear on a profile, and text in opinions, profile descriptions and messages is screened for the categories listed in section 4. Content may be refused, or published and referred to a person for review.
- Reports in the most serious categories — anything involving a minor, self-harm, or a threat of violence — cause the reported content to be hidden immediately while a person reviews it.
- Where we find a breach we may, at our discretion and without prior notice: remove content; hide content pending review; limit account features; suspend the account temporarily; or permanently remove the member from the Service. Serious breaches result in permanent removal on the first occurrence.
- Automated screening is imperfect in both directions. It will occasionally refuse content that breaks no rule, and it will not catch everything. It supplements human review; it does not replace it, and it is not a guarantee that everything you encounter on Partial is appropriate.
If you believe we have made a mistake, write to admin@partial.chat and a person will look at it again.
7. Meeting other members — read this
You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members, online and in person.
- We do not conduct criminal background checks or identity verification on members. We do not screen members against sex-offender registries or any other database.
- We cannot and do not confirm that any member is who they claim to be, that their photos are current or genuine, or that anything they tell you is true.
- Meeting someone you met online carries risk. Take precautions: meet in public, arrange your own transport, tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return, keep conversations within Partial until you trust the person, and never send money to someone you met here. Our in-app Safety centre sets these out in full.
- Never send money, cryptocurrency, gift cards or financial details to another member. Romance fraud is the most common way members are harmed, and it does not begin with a request for money.
- If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. Reporting someone to us is important, but it is not a substitute for emergency help.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release us from any claim arising out of your interactions with other members, including anything that happens when you meet in person.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, opinions, messages and other content you put on Partial ("Your Content").
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for formatting and display) and distribute Your Content for the purpose of operating, securing and improving the Service, for as long as we hold it under our Privacy Policy. We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use it in advertising.
You confirm that you have the rights to everything you post and that it does not break section 4.
What happens to Your Content when you delete your account: deleting your account removes you — your profile, photos, matches and presence on the Service. Some of what you contributed to shared spaces stays, no longer connected to you or to any profile:
- Opinions you posted, and the votes cast on them, remain in the shared feed. Other members voted on and discussed those opinions, and removing them would rewrite what those members saw.
- Messages you sent remain in the conversations you sent them to, because the other side of a conversation is that person's record as much as yours.
In both cases the content is no longer linked to you: your account is gone, your profile is gone, and the content is shown as belonging to a deleted user. See our Privacy Policy for the detail, and section 12 below.
9. Our content
The Partial application, its name, logo, design and software are ours or our licensors'. These Terms do not give you any right to use them apart from using the Service as intended.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, where it is stored, how long we keep it, and your rights under Canadian privacy law. It forms part of these Terms.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or permanently remove your access to the Service, with or without notice, if you break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect other members or the Service.
If your account is removed for a breach, you must not create another one.
This is our decision to remove your access, and it is not the same as you choosing to deactivate under section 12. You cannot lift a suspension by deactivating and reactivating.
We may also stop offering the Service, or any part of it, on reasonable notice.
12. Deactivating or deleting your account
You can leave Partial in two ways, and they are not the same thing.
Deactivating — reversible
Settings → Deactivate my account. Your account is hidden rather than removed: you no longer appear in discovery, nobody can open your profile, and anywhere you would otherwise appear — an existing conversation, an opinion you posted — you are shown as "Deactivated User" with no name or photo. You cannot message, post, swipe or match while deactivated.
Nothing is deleted, and we continue to hold your information as described in our Privacy Policy. Sign in again and choose Reactivate my account and everything is restored exactly as you left it. There is no time limit, and you may deactivate and reactivate as often as you like.
Deactivating is not a withdrawal of consent to our processing your information. If that is what you want, delete your account.
Deleting — permanent
You can delete your account at any time, from inside the app, under Settings → Delete my account. It is permanent and takes effect immediately. Deleting works whether your account is active or deactivated.
If you no longer have the app installed, you can request deletion at date.partial.chat/docs/delete-account.
What is deleted and what is retained is set out in section 8 above and in our Privacy Policy.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that content will be accurate, or that you will find a match or a compatible person.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under consumer protection legislation that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or for emotional distress, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service — including your dealings with other members.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us for the Service, which for a free service is nil.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; where that applies to you, these limitations apply only to the extent permitted.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising out of your breach of these Terms, your content, or your interactions with other members.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, sitting in Toronto.
Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the province in which you reside, or of the right to bring proceedings there where the law gives you that right.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms. If a change is material we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not accept it, delete your account.
18. App store terms
Apple. Apps obtained through the App Store are also covered by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where it addresses a matter these Terms do not, or conflicts with them on a matter it covers, Apple's agreement applies.
Google. Apps obtained through Google Play are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service.
